The Saguaro Cactus

This week in science Analie and I worked on our Wix website. We researched our plants most. We also got to pick which plant we researched. Analie chose to research the Citrullus ecirrhosus. I chose to research the Saguaro cactus. The saguaro cactus is found in the Namib desert in Namibia. The saguaro cactus is known for its appearance and arms. When it ages it can grow more arms and some cacti may never grow any arms. The Saguaro cacti is a host to a great variety of birds such as the Glided flicker and Gila woodpecker. These birds use the cavities of the cacti as a nest. Large birds like the HarrisĀ“s and the red-tailed hawks also use the saguaro cacti as a nest and a hunting perch. These birds also drill holes into the cacti as a home inside. And small birds also do this sometimes too. The bigger birds can drill a hole deep enough to damage the cacti but that is very rare. Saguaro Cacti is one of the largest cacti in the USA. When the cacti die its woody ribs can be used to make roofs, fences, and parts of furniture. I think the Saguaro cacti are very interesting. And is also well known for it is also a help to birds and building parts of houses and furniture.
